Letters

(Album for Piano, Electronics, and Sound Design)

Description:
“Letters” is a deeply personal work - a series of musical messages written over the past several years, tracing the emotional landscape of my relationships, distance, and love.
Each composition is a letter without words - a confession, a memory, a quiet attempt to stay connected with those who have shaped my life.

Created in a time when the world feels divided by war, loss, and uncertainty, the album reflects on our shared human need to reach across silence - to write, to remember, to love, even when we don’t know how much time we have. These “letters” are also my messages to my mother, whom I have not seen in many years, yet whose presence continues to guide and comfort me.

Musically, the album merges acoustic piano with synthetic textures, spatial sound, and elements of sound design. Each sonic layer functions as an emotional dimension - blending fragility and resonance, warmth and emptiness, memory and renewal. Letters captures my belief that music can preserve human connection beyond distance and time, transforming personal experience into a shared emotional space.

All sheet music is available upon request.

Tracklist

Intro

A fragile prelude of piano and sound design - an opening door into the album’s world. Cosmic, weightless, and full of anticipation, it hovers between imagination and reality, as if stepping into starlight for the first time.

Midnight

Suspended in time - an invitation to dance beneath the stars. The piece is framed by sound design at its opening and closing, like a dream that appears and fades into silence. Shaped in the rhythm of a waltz yet moving beyond it, the music unfolds between tenderness and vastness. Minimalistic but melodic, it glows with warmth and quiet wonder, as the piano stretches from its lowest depths to its highest brightness - constellations traced in sound. A fleeting closeness, fragile yet luminous, preserved as music.

First Steps

A fragile miniature about the trembling beginnings of closeness. Built on shifting triads and subtle harmonic textures, it captures the beauty of emotions that are still new - hesitant yet hopeful, uncertain yet luminous with possibility. There is warmth in its simplicity, and a quiet sincerity in its pauses, like holding a hand for the first time and not knowing what comes next, only that you want to keep moving forward.

Closer

A sweeping narrative where passion, doubt, and tenderness intertwine. Patterns shift and transform until the music reaches a dramatic climax - yet the ending remains unresolved, like a question left in the air. Emotional and luminous, it captures the storm of feelings when closeness is at its height, even as its future remains uncertain.

Quiet Room

A quiet meditation on presence and stillness - when simply being together begins to feel like home. Built on repeating chromatic chords in a steady rhythm, the movement comes not from speed but from subtle shifts in color, resonance, and breath. There is no urgency here — only gentle progression, like the familiar rhythm of sharing a morning together, slowly learning each other’s silences, listening without words, and finding comfort in the space between.

Disappointment

The sound of inner rupture - before anything has fully ended, you begin to sense it’s not what you wanted. Harmonic tension unsettles the ear, melodies fracture between longing and hurt, reflecting the subtle, painful awareness that this connection is not yours to keep. It is the first taste of disillusionment, when hope and desire remain, yet understanding begins to seep in, quietly reshaping the heart.

The Knock

A minimal elegy built on repeated notes in the right hand, pulsing steadily from beginning to end. Triads strike like soft knocks on a closed door - tender, insistent, and unanswered. Each repetition carries the weight of repeated attempts, the quiet exhaustion of forgiving over and over, and the moment when the heart can no longer bend. Diminishing warmth and persistent rhythm capture the ache of wanting to reach someone who no longer opens the door, a fragile echo of hope fading into silence.

Silent Alarm

A brief but intense piece, beginning with the ticking of distant clocks in layered sound design, which gradually unfolds into contrapuntal piano lines. The rhythm acts as a hidden countdown of the heart, where tension grows, fractures, and finally collapses into silence. It captures the quiet dread of inevitability - the knowledge that separation is near, already present in the air, yet unavoidable.

Awaking

Written in a minimalistic yet expanded form, Awaking opens like a fantastic garden: birds sing, the air shimmers with sound, and strings fill the space with breath and life. From this texture, the piano emerges with a clear, singing melody - not an ornament, but the essence itself, a voice of memory and release.
As the piece unfolds, the melody evolves — moving through stages of fragility and strength, changing shape yet never losing its core. The waltz-like motion gives it both intimacy and expansiveness, carrying the listener through transformation.
At its heart, Awaking is not about beginning anew, but about renewal: embracing every shadow, every fracture, every silence — and still choosing to bloom again.

MOTHER OF EVOLUTION
The second work, titled Mother of Evolution, touches on the metamorphosis journey of butterflies, which are one of the most beautiful creations in nature, and a sign of hope. The butterflies are a metaphor for the paradox that the world is burning down in a post-apocalyptic scene, but there is still evidence of life. We continue to give birth, no matter what destruction is going on, no matter what oppression we face. It relays the important message that if you are waiting for the world to be perfect or for your life to be perfect to create art, it will never happen. We have to do it, for our own survival in this chaotic, unpredictable world. The work features lyrics from Madonna’s iconic song Justify My Love, and original music by Igor Bardykin

SKNX

Inspired by 90s fragrance commercials — Part I of a two-part short film exploring validation in modern culture.

The first film introduces a hyper-stylized, cinematic world where identity is built and broadcast through performance. Scored by Igor Bardykin, the music supports the visuals with understated tension, elegance, and emotional restraint.

Part II — shot in surreal distortion, questioning perception and authenticity.

The second installment dives into fragmented reality and self-awareness. With a haunting, experimental score by Igor Bardykin, the film blurs the line between fantasy and disconnection in search of something real beneath the image.

Rose Thorn
ad campaign

Soundtrack for an ad campaign for Rose Thorn, a jewelry brand specializing in crystal‑energy and acupressure pieces that blend elegance, symbolism, and holistic healingtrademarks.justia.com+11about.me+11shaunleane.com+11. Their collections, infused with spiritual meaning and modern craftsmanship, evoke both beauty and strength.

For the campaign, I crafted an immersive soundscape that weaves organic field recordings—the gentle rustle of leaves, soft drips of water, subtle wind breath—with layered electronic textures and harmonic piano motifs. This fusion underscores Rose Thorn’s ethos: natural healing meets refined design.

The music unfolds with a spacious, meditative pacing—first, the natural sounds evoke grounding and calm; then, the introduction of delicate melodic elements and evolving sound design reflects emotional uplift and energy alignment. The result is both ambient and cinematic—subtle yet emotionally resonant.

By combining nature's authenticity with modern sonic storytelling, the piece enhances the jewelry’s visual narrative: a journey from inner stillness to empowered radiance.
